Participatory Budget Session

Thank you to everyone who attended the Participatory Budget Sessions.  Mayor Schor has now concluded 8 sessions and will be preparing his proposed budget which will go to City Council in late March.  

During the first four session (Nov/Dec 2018), citizens learned about the total city budget and made proposals about how to allocate the budget dollars given budget constraints.  Following those sessions, Mayor Schor identified four key areas of citizen priorities. 

For the next four sessions, we divided the budget nights into those areas and hosted one night for each:  Economic Development, Infrastructure, Neighborhoods, and Public Safety.  A summary one page document was created for each area. Join Mayor Schor at the annual Love Lansing Celebration to recognize neighborhood leaders and watch captains/coordinators for their amazing efforts in creating excellent communities across Lansing. 

Nominations are now open for the following awards:

  • The Community Builder Award: Demonstrates exceptional leadership through volunteerism in the community.
  • Emerging Leaders Award: Recognizes an up-and-coming community leader under the age of 35.
  • Neighborhood Impact Award: Nominees for this award may include groups, projects and activities that strengthen the Lansing community through collaboration that improves quality of life and strives to involve all neighbors and stakeholders.


Get your neighborhood team together!
