Flood Recovery Support

The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened a Disaster Outreach Center in Lansing to serve victims of the area's February floods.

The SBA is offering low interest loans to eligible homeowners and business owners to help with flood recovery. The Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be open at Foster Community Center until Tuesday, April 10th.

University of Michigan Student Presentations

The City of Lansing has partnered with the University of Michigan College of Information Sciences graduate students in the Citizen Interaction Design course.  Learn more about the program and its commitment to "create information for twenty first century citizens" HERE

Teams of students have been working on projects that develop solutions for city government to enhance information exchange and citizen engagement.  See their projects on display on Wednesday April 11th 9:30 am - 11:30 am in the Lansing City Hall lobby. 

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the citizen focus groups and project teams.  Particular thanks to both the Baker Neighborhood and the South Side Community Coalition for hosting student teams and providing time and feedback to their projects.

The celebration will recognize neighborhood leaders and neighborhood watch captains and coordinators for their amazing efforts in building strong, safe, livable neighborhoods in Lansing.  The event is moving this year to the Lansing Public Media Center (SWOC) and will feature live music, neighborhood displays and delicious local food vendors.  

Ticket Price: $11.95 ($10.50 + $1.45 fee) includes dinner from some of your favorite local Lansing restaurants and dessert.

50% of ticket proceeds will be raffled off as mini-grants to neighborhood groups at the event!

City of Lansing and Holmes Street School nationally featured!

The Holmes Street School neighborhood was a featured participant in the Urban Institute study of the Love Your Block grant program.  Lansing, Phoenix, and Boston were selected for participation in this study and Holmes Street School neighborhood's work was the focus of the review.
