LiNCS (Leaders in Neighborhood + Community Service) is a network of neighborhood and community leaders in the City of Lansing with two components 1) Weekly LiNCS update sent each Friday 2) Monthly LiNCS meetings.

Brag A Little!

Did your neighborhood complete a project this year with funding from the Neighborhood Advisory Board grant?  We'd love to feature your successful project or event in our 2017 report.  Send your photos and a project description to Ben Thompson at by December 8.  

Have a Great Idea for your Neighborhood? 

Apply for a $100 stipend & host a great block party or plan something bigger and apply for a small (up to $650) or large (up to $3,000) project grant. Ready to make an even bigger impact? Apply to take on a Love Your Block project of up to $5,000 and work directly with the Neighborhood Resource Team to bring your project to life.  See the 2017 Love Your Block project report link below for examples. 

All applications are due Jan. 12, 2018 and funds are awarded April 2018.

Neighborhood enhancement
  • Activate vacant lots
  • “Welcome to” signs
  • Printing & Promotion materials for neighborhood organization
  • Neighborhood meeting/event supplies (tables, chairs, watercoolers, etc)
  • Neighborhood yard signs as meeting reminders
  • Neighborhood street sign toppers 
  • Community Gardening (Native plant gardens, garden benches, sculptures)
  • Neighborhood park cleanups/enhancements
Community Events
  • Picnics, block parties, porch fests
  • Bounce house, port-a-johns
  • Purchase equipment (movie projectors, popcorn machines, playgrounds)
  • Group outings (i.e. Lugnuts)       
The Neighborhood Advisory Board Grant Feedback meeting will be held on Tuesday December 14th 6:00 pm at Foster Community Center.  Bring your grant idea or draft application and get feedback from the board on ways to strengthen your proposal.  The grant preview is highly recommended, especially for first time applicants.
