Commission Overview 
The Lansing Historic District Commission is made up of 9 Lansing residents appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Its members serve at-large, and volunteer their time to review proposed exterior work on properties located within a designated local historic districts, such as additions, alterations, and demolitions in accordance with chapter 1220 of the Code of Ordinances. The commission issues a certificate of appropriateness, notice to proceed, or certificate of denial, based upon the Secretary of the Interior's Standards.
