Cesar E. Chavez and Washington Avenue Project

About the Project

This project is a joint road construction and water main replacement project scheduled to begin April 29th and continue through October. The City of Lansing and the Lansing Board of Water and Light will both be completing work for this project.

The construction limits on Cesar E. Chavez Avenue are from Capitol Avenue east to the bridge over the Grand River. Work will consist of watermain, sewer and asphalt paving.

The construction limits along Washington Avenue are from Maple Street north to approximately 100 feet north of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue. Work will consist of watermain and sewer repair and replacement. The roadway will be reconstructed with one lane in each direction with parking and bike lanes on both sides.

The traffic signal at the Cesar E. Chavez and Washington Avenue intersection will be removed and converted to a two-way stop. Washington Avenue traffic will be required to stop prior to entering the intersection.
