Waste Reduction Services
Welcome to Waste Reduction Services. We offer City of Lansing residents convenient, weekly curbside collections for recycling, refuse, and yard waste . All materials are collected on the same day! Bulk item pick up is also available. A variety of educational resources are also offered to the Lansing community. Please contact the WRS hotline at 483-4400 with any questions, comments or concerns.
Our mission is to provide an efficient recycling, yard waste and refuse collection system which encourages environmentally responsible behavior learned through consistent outreach efforts, as well as continuous, community-based educational activities, all of which contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment and enhance the quality of life for those who live and work in the city of Lansing.

Important Announcement: The City of Lansing’s trash, recycling and yard waste collection services will be modified beginning the week of Monday, July 5, 2010. Some residents will experience a change in their collection day as the City transitions to a four day collection schedule, Monday through Thursday. Residents are advised to check the map to see if their collection day has changed. Contact 483-4400 with any questions.
As of June 11, 2011 athletic shoes will no longer be collected at Reuse A Shoe drop off sites. Please consider donating unwanted shoes to a local charitable organization. Call 483-4400 or email recycle@lansingmi.gov for more information.
