Retirement Plans

The City of Lansing offers a variety of retirement plans for employees to choose from based on their qualifications.

Defined Benefit Plan


The City of Lansing Defined Benefit Plan (DB) provides a lifetime retirement benefit funded by the employee and employer. This plan is open to all full-time permanent employees.

Deferred Compensation


The City of Lansing Deferred Compensation (457 plan) offers a supplement retirement saving plan that provides an individual account for each participant. The benefits of the individual account at retirement are based on the amount of contributions from the employee and the growth on investment performance earning chosen by each individual. This plan is open to all employees through payroll deduction.

Defined Contribution


The City of Lansing Defined Contribution Money Purchase Plan (DC) provides an individual retirement account for each participant. The benefits of the individual account at retirement are based on the amount of contributions from both the employee and employer and the growth of the investment performance earnings chosen by each individual. This plan is open to new employees. Please contact the Retirement Office to determine your eligibility for the plan.
