Office of Community and Faith-based Initiatives

During his first year in office Mayor Bernero established the Mayor's Office of Community and Faith Based Initiatives to form a powerful new partnership between city government and Lansing's faith community. To date, under the leadership of Bishop David Maxwell, the MOCFBI has played a vital role in coordinating the City's human service activities. The MOCFBI leverages the faith community’s experience and extensive volunteer network to provide charitable services to Lansing residents, and has helped secure federal grants for the Lead Safe Lansing Program and the Lansing Office of Financial Empowerment. MOCFBI has also forged important partnerships with Lansing Police Department, Lansing Community College, the Lansing School District and the Greater Lansing Minority Business Alliance in support of multiple initiatives.
